Schar open to Inter move

The centre-back would be open to a move to the Serie A giants, but says he is not distracted by talk of a transfer away from the club

Basel defender Fabian Schar has admitted he could be tempted to move on if Inter were to make a move for him, but insists he is focused on his current club for now.

The Switzerland international’s contract with Basel is due to expire in June 2016 and clubs such as Inter, AC Milan, Juventus and Arsenal are all believed to be keeping a close eye on him.

However, Schar – who is currently recovering from an ankle injury – is in no rush to make a decision about his future.

“I have heard about their interest. It’s normal in football that there’s always a lot of speculation. Inter are a great team,” Schar told Blick.

“But I still have a contract with Basel and I am very satisfied here. I am not thinking about my future for now.

“I have a contract for one-and-a-half more years and I don’t feel any pressure to make a decision.

“My main priority now is to become fully match fit again.”

Schar, 23, has made close to 100 appearances for Basel since joining the Swiss giants from FC Wil in July 2012.
