The Italy international believes the Rossoneri have enough quality to finish third and has little doubt they can stay ahead of their city rivals
Riccardo Montolivo is confident AC Milan have what it takes to challenge for third place in the Serie A table and has insisted they do not fear rivals Inter.
The experienced midfielder has acknowledged that reigning champions Juventus and last year’s runners-up Roma are out of Milan’s reach, but is optimistic about their chances of clinching the final Champions League spot, even if he feels Napoli are sitting in pole position for now.
“We don’t fear Inter in the battle for third place, even if they have made some great signings,” Montolivo told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Juventus and Roma are stronger than us, but we can compete with all of the other teams. I’d say Napoli are best-equipped to finish third.
“The president is right to dream big, but we have to deal with the reality.”
Milan currently sit eighth in the Serie A table with 26 points from 18 games, trailing third-placed Napoli by five points.
They host Atalanta on Sunday.
