Pereira: "Inter, everyone’s dream in S. America"

MILAN Alvaro Pereira landed at Milano Malpensa airport a few minutes ago along
with Nerazzurri technical director Marco Branca. He was immediately
surrounded by a host of journalists who wanted to meet him and
introduce him to their readers.

The Uruguayan left-sider spoke of his joy at being in Italy: “Inter
is a dream: you just cannot imagine how much this club is loved and
supported abroad. Inter is every player’s dream and even more so in
South America. I’m happy. The thought of playing for Inter is simply
amazing. I can’t wait to get the medical over so I can join the
squad.”

It was pointed out to Pereira that his name is Alvaro just like a
certain Mr Recoba: “I have always watched Alvaro Recoba
playing,” he said smiling,”I’ve always followed his career.”

No sooner had he arrived than he made his intentions clear: “Let’s
hope we can win a lot of trophies so we can make the Inter fans
happy. I’ll team up with Gargano and Guarin, fortunately I have these
friends here who will help me settle in with the rest of the squad
quickly. Where do I prefer to play? What’s important now is being at
Inter and meeting my team-mates. What have Guarin and Gargano told
me? That Inter is a fantastic club.”

Appiano: Cassano, official presentation

APPIANO GENTILE – Tomorrow, Saturday 25 August
2012, at 12:30 Antonio Cassano will meet journalists in the
conference room at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti in Appiano Gentile.

Journalists may access the Centro Sportivo from 12:15 on.

Sneijder: "Fair result, now let's keep this up"

PIATRA NEAMT – Cambiasso’s opener began with one of his corners and Palacio scored the second from his pass: Wesley Sneijder had a big say in Inter’s win over Vaslui.

“Today we played very well and I think 2-0 was a fair result,” the Dutch midfielder explained after the game. “Vaslui are a pacy side, we’ll need to be careful in the return leg in Milan. The Hajduk game should help us. How much did we miss Chivu? You always miss someone like him because he’s a top player.”

Ranocchia: "Off on the right foot"

PIATRA NEAMT – Andrea Ranocchia also deserves credit this evening for his excellent performance in the win over Vaslui, and he spoke to Inter Channel about the UEFA Europa League play-off first leg: “We’re happy, we were a bit jaded come the end of the game but we managed to hold up. We came into the game after four training sessions this week in the blazing sun and we’d put a lot in. Thankfully the temperature was perfect tonight and the game went better.”

On his season, the Nerazzurri defender added: “Right from day one of the training camp I got off on the right foot, but I need to work and keep on working because we’re only at the start. How important has Stramaccioni been on this journey? A great deal, he’s helped me an awful lot and he put his trust in me right from the start. My team-mates at the back are also very important, today the team were very aggressive going forward and that always makes things easier for us defenders.”
