AC Milan-Inter Betting Preview: Derby day could produce a tight tussle

Our tipster is expecting a low-scoring encounter when Clarence Seedorf’s side tackle Walter Mazzarri’s men at San Siro in what is a crucial game for both side’s European hopes

Inter can seal a qualification spot for next season’s Europa League with victory overAC Milan when the two clubs go head-to-head in Serie A on Saturday night.

Walter Mazzarri’s men have lost just one of their last 13 league matches and, having kept a clean sheet in their last three outings, will be confident of getting a positive result from this meeting with their city rivals.

Milan’s own hopes of qualifying for European competition were rocked when a five-match winning run was halted by a 2-0 reverse at the hands of Roma last weekend but despite lying 10th in the table, Clarence Seedorf’s side are just a point off Torino in sixth, which will be allocated a Europa League place because of the fact that third-placed Napoli met fourth-placed Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia final.

Milan are chalked up at 6/4 (2.50) with William Hill to claim all three points this weekend, while Inter can be backed at a chunky 9/5 (2.80) with the same firm to enjoy victory here. Draw backers may be tempted by William Hill’s 23/10 (3.30) quote for the match to end in stalemate.

Inter ran out as 1-0 winners in the previous meeting between these two sides this term, courtesy of Rodrigo Palacio’s late strike, and the Argentine striker could be a key protagonist again when these sides meet on Saturday.

Palacio has netted 25 goals in 47 appearances for Inter in all competitions thus far this term and appears to represent decent value at a juicy 11/2 (6.50) with William Hill to break the deadlock here, while former
Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli – who has scored 14 league goals for Milan this season – can be backed at 9/2 (5.50) with the same firm to score first.

It is worth noting, however, that both sides have kept four clean sheets in their last six matches and, so, goals could prove difficult to come by when these two teams meet at the Giuseppe Meazza.

Furthermore, four of the last five meetings between the Milan clubs have produced fewer than three goals and punters are advised to snap up the juicy 11/10 (2.10) quote from William Hill for a similar outcome this weekend.
