As we all know Inter Milan lost a hard fought battle with Marseille in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 match. This means that Inter must win their home leg which takes place a week from today. A 1-0 loss on the road is not too horrible, but it does mean that Inter’s back is against the wall and they almost need to win their home leg by two goals in order to make the quarterfinals. A 1-0 home win would force penalty kicks, but a 2-1 win or any win where Marseille scores an away goal and loses by 1 result in Inter’s elimination from the tournament. Inter has the ability to score goals and get themselves out of this hole, but it will be very difficult against a stingy Marseille team.
