Nagatomo: "Three important points"

MILAN – "We bagged three important points tonight because Napoli are a top team and second place was up for grabs." That’s what Yuto Nagatomo told Japanese journalists after Inter’s win at the Meazza.

The wing-back then analysed his own performance: "I’m pleased with how I did personally. In the second half in particular I had to carry out more defensive duties because the coach, through Zanetti, told me to concentrate more on helping our defenders. Midway through the second half I was almost in with a chance but I got there just a bit too late. My legs aren’t very long and I couldn’t quite stretch to it…"

Nagatomo was reminded that on other occasions this season, after a great performance the team has suffered a dip in form. He replied: "Unfortunately that has happened this year. We’ll have to maintain our focus better. Juventus? We must keep on this path, it’s too early to talk about the league table."

Guarin: "Good performance. Goal down to Strama"

MILAN – Scorer and provider for Milito this evening, Fredy Guarin was also at the hub of much of Inter’s play against Napoli. Afterwards he gave his thoughts to Sky Sport Italia: "It was a good performance, the goal was important but the best thing was the way the team played. The rehearsed corner? It was a goal that came from Strama. We’d tried it out before."

It was then put to the Colombian powerhouse that Inter tend to turn it on against the big teams: "Every game is different but we must think that all opponents are the same. We prepared for this match very well."

Guarin wanted to dedicate his goal to Miguel Calero, the former Colombia goalkeeper who died of cerebral thrombosis recently: "The news was hard to take, we players all knew him. I hope to be able to help his family."

Ranocchia: "We all did well, and the skipper…"

MILAN – Andrea Ranocchia spoke to Inter Channel after playing his part in the Nerazzurri’s win over Napoli: "We all played well, we had to do that to beat a side like Napoli, but now we’ll focus on Lazio. My role in the set piece that led to our opening goal? I had to draw opponents away together with my team-mates to free up space behind us."

Asked for a comment on Javier Zanetti’s performance, Ranocchia replied: "The captain is remarkable [smiling], he helped me out in the area, he and Nagatomo gave me a big hand with Insigne."

Finally, a word on Cambiasso’s position: "He’s very astute tactically so he has no problem playing in that position. Does he talk more than Samuel? Yes, he does do that… [smiling]."
