Jeison Murillo has thanked Inter for giving him an “extraordinary opportunity” and is determined to make the most of the move.
Self-proclaimed “warrior” Jeison Murillo has revealed that he gave up his summer holiday in order to start fighting for his place in the Inter starting line-up.
The Colombia international agreed to join the Nerazzurri from Getafe in February 2015 but was only formally presented to the press on Thursday.
Murillo had been offered more time off after his exploits at the Copa America in Chile but the centre-half turned it down in order to link up with his new team-mates as quickly as possible.
“I gave up my holiday because as soon as I had my future sorted the only thing I wanted was to get to the training camp and start working,” the defender told Inter’s official website.
“I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get started.
“I consider myself a warrior – my job is to give 100 per cent for the club that’s given me this chance.
“I’ll give every drop of sweat I have for this shirt. Being part of Inter is fantastic – it’s a club with great history and tradition.
“I’m here to give my all and I’m really happy to have this extraordinary opportunity.”
Murillo added that while he would like to be paired with fellow new arrival Miranda at the heart of the Inter defence, he is only focused on himself for the time being.
“We’ve played on the same pitch before but for opposing sides,” the 23-year-old said of the former Atletico Madrid ace.
“We’ll see what our characteristics are, but it’s up to the boss to decide. I’ll fight to earn a starting spot and will work hard to achieve that goal.”
