Serie A Team of the Week: Destro & Llorente lead high-scoring XI

The latest round of Italian top-flight action brought many a star to the fore, particularly in the attacking half of the pitch

The latest Goal Team of the Week for Serie A is one of the most attacking XIs of the season, with a huge number of offensive players making headlines around the peninsula in round 32.

One man who managed to buck the weekend’s general trend was Gianluca Curci, who saved Diego Milito’s late penalty to earn Bologna a point at Inter. Ahead of him, Gabriel Paletta starred in Parma’s win over Napoli, while Gonzalo Rodriguez netted the winner in Fiorentina’s victory against Udinese. The full-back slots are occupied by two wing-backs, the Viola‘s opening goalscorer Juan Cuadrado and Juve workhorse Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Antonio Candreva netted in Lazio’s 2-0 victory over Sampdoria and he takes his place alongside Parma match-winner Marco Parolo. Meanwhile, Adel Taarabt continued his promising start to life at Milan with the first goal in the win at Genoa.

Up top, there were numerous stars to choose from, but the industrious Mauro Icardi gets the first slot after his double in Inter’s draw with Bologna. Fernando Llorente also struck twice in Juventus’ 2-0 success against Livorno, while Mattia Destro went one better with a hat-trick that ensured that Roma left Cagliari with all three points courtesy of a 3-1 win.
