Sanchez: ‘Inter can do better’

Inter forward Alexis Sanchez said it’s ‘too early’ to talk about the Scudetto and revealed Antonio Conte has ‘created a family’ at Appiano.

The Chilean forward has contributed two assists in two Serie A games so far and was happy with ‘the determination’ in the first Week, when the Nerazzurri turned the game to beat Fiorentina 4-3.

“The first match was difficult,” Sanchez admitted to Sky Sport Italia. “We were down 3-2 and came back.

“The determination and desire must always be there when you play for Inter.”

Inter followed up with back-to-back wins, as newly promoted Benevento were at the receiving end of a heavy 5-2 beating on Tuesday, but Sanchez claimed Inter ‘can do better’.

“Only two games, it’s too early to think big,” he added. “We need to improve in terms of mentality, play and in defence.

“I think we’re doing well, but we can do better. It’s too early to talk about the Scudetto, I can talk about it later on.

“We must improve now, be more determined. We can’t relax, we must always be focused on every game, easy or difficult.”

The former Manchester United attacker terminated his contract at Old Trafford to make his move permanent in August and hopes to start more going forward.

“I feel good, I just mist playing more,” he added. “The more I play, the better I feel.

“I want the ball to make assists and score goals, I’m happy because I feel fit, I do the job I love and I have always been used to playing for great teams.

“After the experience at Manchester United, I wanted to breathe a different air. When I arrived at the Nerazzurri, I found Conte. He’s a coach who doesn’t let you give up.

“The group also want to win, they have created a family in all senses at Appiano.”

Sanchez has been joined by compatriot Arturo Vidal at San Siro this summer, a player he has ‘known for 15 years’.

“Everyone knows who he is, I have practically been playing with him for 15 years,” Sanchez added. “He’s someone who understands football.

“It’s not easy to find players like him. He has 360-degree vision, an important quality for us attackers. With one pass, he puts you in the right place, he makes you waste less time.”
