Ranocchia: Inter aiming for the top

The centre-back has set his sights on a successful 2013-14 season, but realises the Nerazzurri will have to improve

Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia is full of ambition ahead of the 2013-14 campaign and is determined to return to the top as soon as possible.

The Giuseppe Meazza side had to settle for ninth spot in the Serie A table last term, but the Italy international is confident they will do better in the new season under head coach Walter Mazzarri.

“We’re aiming for the top again this season. That always has to be the target for Inter,” the defender was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

“Mazzarri and his methods? He’s come here with his own set of ideas, we’re trying to follow them and get on with the job.”

Ranocchia then briefly reflected on his side’s 2-0 International Champions Cup loss against Chelsea and stressed that the Nerazzurri will have to improve.

“We played well in the first half but then we found it tough in second. We need to improve and make sure we don’t repeat the mistakes we made.”
