Moratti: Mazzari right man for young Inter

The Nerazzurri president believes the club were right to go with the former Napoli boss after parting ways with Andrea Stramaccioni last term

Walter Mazzarri can lead Inter to a new era of success, according to club president Massimo Moratti.

The Nerazzurri lured the former Napoli coach to the Giuseppe Meazza this summer following the decision to part company with Andrea Stramaccioni and Moratti believes Mazzarri has the right credentials to work with Inter’s young squad.

The likes of Chelsea loanee Wallace, Mauro Icardi and Ishak Belfodil have all been recruited as Inter look to build for the future.

“We have signed a lot of young players but this is not a mistake. We know they are ready,” Moratti told Inter.it.

“When we decided on this approach, we needed a man who agreed with the policy and knows how to exploit that potential – and Mazzarri is that man.”

Although the 51-year-old has only been with Inter for a matter of months, Moratti believes the early signs of a fruitful relationship are there to be seen.

“He has already entered the hearts of the fans,” claimed Moratti.

“He has good ideas and deals with the club and the players in a nice way. It is much the same as with Paul Ince. He was only with us for a year and a half but remains in the memory because he was a great professional.”

Inter resume their Serie A campaign with a clash against reigning champions Juventus after the international break.

Moratti defends Inter's summer spending

The Nerazzurri boss feels the Serie A side are on the right track to build a new team for the future after signing several young players during the transfer window

Inter president Massimo Moratti has defended the Nerazzurri‘s transfer dealings this summer and backed his side’s policy of focusing on bringing in young talent.

The Giuseppe Meazza side signed the likes of Mauro Icardi, Ishak Belfodil and Saphir Taider prior to the close of the transfer window and Moratti is confident they are on the right track to build a successful side in the future – especially with new coach Walter Mazzarri at the helm.

“We are looking to the present as well as the future. That was our aim in the transfer market,” Moratti told Inter Channel.

“Players who, though young, are already clearly talented and with the potential to grow even further. And I think we got it right.

“But when you decide to adopt a policy like that you also need a coach who agrees with it, and, more importantly, knows how to make the most out of it.”

Inter have started the 2013-14 campaign with two wins from as many Serie A games and sit joint first in the league table.

Mazzarri right for Inter, insists Moratti

The Nerazzurri supremo is confident the former Napoli boss can guide them back to the top, made it clear Samuel Eto’o was never a transfer target and he wanted to sign Kaka

Inter president Massimo Moratti is confident that appointing Walter Mazzarri as the club’s new head coach earlier this summer will prove to be the right decision.

The Nerazzurri parted company with Andrea Stramaccioni at the end of last season after they finished just ninth in Serie A and Moratti has little doubt Mazzarri can guide them back to the top.

“We took Mazzarri as our new coach because he’s a rock, our certainty. He’s a strong personality and has everybody’s backing,” Moratti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We could have taken someone else as well, who would perhaps have been a braver choice or more entertaining, but we wanted a coach who’s modest, not afraid to learn new things and listens to other people.

“The coach has to listen to the players and other people around him. He should be able to transmit his ideas to the squad.

“What we liked about Mazzarri is that he works hard and has plenty of experience. He gave me the idea that he can be Inter’s new point of reference.”

Moratti also briefly reflected on the summer transfer window and stressed that re-signing Samuel Eto’o was never a real objective for Inter, while he added that he would happily have signed Kaka if AC Milan had not snapped up the Brazilian.

He added: “We never really talked much about potentially bringing back Eto’o. We did what we had to do this summer. My dream? I would have liked to sign Kaka in the closing hours of the window.”

Moratti: Milan signing Kaka an excellent move

The Inter supremo has welcomed back the experienced midfielder with open arms following his return to the Italian top flight

Inter president Massimo Moratti has hailed AC Milan’s decision to bring back Kaka to Serie A after four years at Real Madrid.

The Rossoneri completed the signing of the Brazilian on a free transfer on Monday, with the 31-year-old agreeing a two-year deal with Milan.

“The decision to bring back Kaka is an excellent move by Milan,” Moratti was quoted as saying on the official Inter website.

“As for sticking to tradition, it’s for them to decide [whether Kaka is still of added value], so I’ll pass no judgement on that.

“But I’m glad we’ll see Kaka playing in Italy again.”

Kaka made 193 Serie A appearances for Milan between 2003 and 2009, netting 70 goals.
