The Inter boss says his side took on board the negatives from their 4-1 home loss to Cagliari in their last Serie A outing, in their Europa League win over Qarabag
Inter coach Walter Mazzarri says his team have put their 4-1 defeat against Cagliari at San Siro behind them, after their win over Qarabag.
The Italian side ran out 2-0 home winners over the Azerbaijani club after strikes from Danilo D’Ambrosio and Mauro Icardi.
Mazzarri was happy with his side’s performance and that his side had learned from their humiliating defeat to Cagliari.
“The lads played a difficult and focused game, which was not easy after losing 4-1 to Cagliari,” the coach told Mediaset.
“This was our sixth game in a row for many players and that takes up an incredible amount of energy. We learned the lessons from the Cagliari defeat.”
The 53-year-old also defended his side’s performance against a relatively unknown outfit who more than held their own in the tie before Icardi sealed the result late on.
“With modern football all the games have levelled out,” he continued.
“We must always try to win or it gets turned into a tragedy by the media.
“We are forced to get a result. Don’t forget in this environment the only thing that counts is the result.”
