Maxwell joined Inter from Ajax in 2006, spending one year with Empoli on-loan before featuring under then coach Roberto Mancini. Overall, he has made nearly 80 appearances for the club in Serie A.
“Something is moving and the situation has changed,” said Raiola.
“I spoke to the directors yesterday and I can confirm their position is different now. We are working to extend the current contract, which would be expiring in June 2010.
“Still we are negotiating so there is not a deadline yet and I can’t say whether he will stay for definite,” added Raiola.
The reason behind these negotiations could be Douglas Maicon, if the Brazilian was to leave San Siro then Santon would move to his natural right-back position and Maxwell would return to being a regular on the left side.
Raiola is also the agent of Chievo’s Kerlon, another Inter-owned player. The youngster will be loaned out once again before taking a final decision regarding his future.
“He has a four-year contract with the Nerazzurri. Kerlon is a fantastic player and will no doubt become one of the best. Inter will wait the end of next season before deciding his future,” concluded Raiola.
