Llorente: I'll play debut Derby d'Italia like it's my last

The forward is set to start when the Bianconeri host Inter on Sunday and has promised to do everything he can to secure a win that would propel the champions nine points clear

Juventus striker Fernando Llorente has pledged to play his first Derby d’Italia as though it were his last.

The 28-year-old was an unused substitute when Antonio Conte’s men faced Inter at San Siro in the third game of the Serie A season, while he was initially struggling to break into the Bianconeri starting line-up.

Since then, however, Llorente has become a first-choice forward in Turin and is set to play against Inter for the first time as a Juve player on Sunday.

“It will be my first Derby d’Italia,” the Spaniard wrote on Twitter. “But, for the fans, I’ll play it as though it were my last.”

Llorente has scored nine times in 18 league games this season, helping the reigning champions procure a six-point lead at the top of the table after 21 matchdays.

Roma had a chance to temporarily close the gap with a win at home to Parma, but their clash was suspended due to pitch flooding and Juve can now put nine points between themselves and their nearest rivals.
