?Juventus have confirmed that centre-back Daniele Rugani has tested positive for the coronavirus – making him one of the first high-profile footballers to contract the virus.
Rugani has struggled for minutes this season under the management of Maurizio Sarri, making just seven appearances in all competitions. To that end, he has also started just three league games.
Numerous games in Italy were postponed and played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus. However, the government recently decided to suspend all sporting activities until April 3 as they looked to stop the spread of the deadly virus that has already majorly affected the country.
However, ?Juventus have now taken to their ?official website to sadly confirm that 25-year-old Rugani has tested positive for the coronavirus.
In a short statement, the club said: “The footballer, Daniele Rugani has tested positive for Coronavirus-COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic.

“Juventus Football Club is currently activating all the isolation procedures required by law, including those who have had contact with him.”
This comes after Hannover 96 defender Timo Hubers also tested positive for the coronavirus. It is not yet clear whether or not any Juventus players or staff members have been in close proximity to Rugani in recent times.
