Italians without Champions League quarter-finalists

For only the sixth time in Champions League history and therefore the first since 2015-16, there aren’t any Italian teams within the quarter-finals.

Juventus crashed bent FC Porto, Atalanta lost to Real Madrid and tonight Lazio were eliminated by Bayern Munich.

Inter had finished bottom of their group and were knocked out before the Round of 16.

Not since 2015-16 had there been no Italian representatives within the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Only sixfold since the tournament was formed in 1992-93, all the Serie A clubs have already been eliminated before the quarter-finals.

The other editions were 2000-01, 2001-02, 2008-09, 2013-14 and 2015-16.

The quarter-finalists this season are Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid, PSG and FC Porto.
