'Higuain is Serie A's version of Lionel Messi'

Two strikes from the Argentine, who now has 12 in total in Serie A, fired Napoli to a 2-1 victory over Inter and to the top of the table

Inter boss Roberto Mancini believes Gonzalo Higuain is Serie A’s version of Lionel Messi.

Two goals from the Argentine secured a 2-1 victory over Inter on Monday to fire Napoli to the top of Serie A.

“[Maurizio] Sarri said we had one chance in 90 minutes? It didn’t seem to me that it went like that,” Mancini told Corriere dello Sport.

“Napoli were very good and Higuain made the difference with an extraordinary goal after a minute.

“Higuain in Italy is like Messi to the rest of the world. He’s giving something to Napoli that the other teams don’t have.

“Going behind straight away put us in trouble in the first quarter of an hour, then the match was normal and balanced.

“I think it was one of our best performances of the season and there were several positives.”
