Inter full-back Achraf Hakimi said the Nerazzurri ‘have created a great project’ and revealed Antonio Conte was previously close to joining Real Madrid.
Hakimi arrived at the Beneamata last summer and has helped the club pick up their first Scudetto in 11 years.
The Morocco international is mostly known for his high pace and attacking abilities, but the 22-year-old admitted Conte made him work on his defending.
“Inter have created a great project to win this championship and I’m very proud to have been able to help make the history of the club,” Hakimi told Onda Cero.
“Conte has put me to work defensively, and I really appreciate this, because I have improved.
“He’s a demanding coach who works a lot on tactics. He told me he was close to signing for Real Madrid, but then the negotiations broke down.”
The former Los Blancos full-back has contributed seven goals and eight goals in 41 competitive games for the Nerazzurri this season.
