Milan defender Matteo Gabbia returned to Italy on a ‘safe’ flight after testing positive for coronavirus.
Tuttosport reveals Gabbia returned to Milan from the trip with the Under-21 national team to Iceland and landed last night at Malpensa Airport.
He travelled with two others from Italy Under-21 who are infected, Reggina goalkeeper Alessandro Plizzarri and a member of the Azzurrini staff.
Gabbia is one of two players positive for COVID-19 at Milan ahead of the Derby della Madonnina, whilst Inter currently have six players infected.
The local health authority in Milan insists the Derby will go ahead as long as the two clubs ‘stick scrupulously to the COVID protocol’.
