Torino assistant manager Francesco Conti, standing in for Marco Giampaolo, insists they ‘won’t cry over spilt milk’ after four COVID cases against Inter.
It kicks off on Sunday at 14.00 GMT, click here for a match preview.
Giampaolo is out of action with COVID-19, along with four unnamed players, two of whom returned from international duty.
“The coach is in good shape, we hear from him every day and fortunately technology has allowed us to overcome any difficulties,” Conti told Torino TV.
“We created videos he could watch during the week, the staff is working together and aware of the responsibility we’ve been given. The squad also had the right attitude.”
Although those who tested positive are not named, the players missing from the squad are Sasa Lukic, Mergim Vojvoda, Amer Gojak and Samir Ujkani.
“The rules on COVID are the same for everyone, so we have to accept them. Unfortunately, all three players are part of the same section of the team, so we’ll have to make some adjustments. We won’t cry over spilt milk, we have the resources and energy to overcome these difficulties.
“Inter are among the best teams in Italy, so we need a top level performance and to respond as a unit.”
Conti was asked if this will be a showdown between centre-forwards Andrea Belotti and Romelu Lukaku.
“Gallo is the soul and spirit of Toro, but I don’t think a single duel can decide a game. It’s two teams against each other and both will give their all to win.”
