Conte calls himself ‘a democratic coach’

Antonio Conte maintains he’s ‘a democratic coach’ and wanting to create competition for places within his Inter squad, spurring Alexis Sanchez and Achraf Hakimi to offer more, and won’t hide from Scudetto talk.

The Nerazzurri needed a pair of Alexis Sanchez goals within the last half to overcome the Stadio Tardini, beating Parma 2-1.

It allows them to travel six points beyond Milan at the highest of the Serie A table with their sixth consecutive victory.

Conte knew it might be tough, which is why the sole player he rested from his usual XI was Lautaro Martinez.

“I don’t think it had been an unsightly game, as we scored two goals and had many other chances to increase our lead,” Conte told Sky Sport Italia.

“Having said that, we all know Parma always caused us problems, they need strong players and a superb coach. They were trying to draw us out then split us in two with knock-downs from Juraj Kucka.

“Parma deserve compliments and that i think they need everything required to save lots of themselves this season. I said that Genoa and Parma would be the test of our maturity, because we would have liked to sharpen our talons and show determination in every fixture, not just the large ones.

“We conceded an avoidable goal, but aside from that, I don’t think Samir Handanovic made many big saves.”

In the final minutes, Conte grabbed Achraf Hakimi by the side of the top , shouted in his face and slapped him on the rear of the top , all of it a really passionate congratulations.

“He was fantastic in stoppages, he visited press the Parma player and push him out of a zone , so I wanted to grab him by the top and say Bravo! These players are working really hard, showing application and learning the teachings .”

Just as Christian Eriksen managed to surpass Arturo Vidal within the hierarchy , Conte is encouraging competition for places.

“I think that I’m a really democratic coach, so I give nothing for free of charge and that i am patient to a particular degree. we’ve a team and therefore the individual comes then , so everyone has got to think therein sense if they need to urge along side me.

“I’ve found a gaggle of lads who are eager and willing to fight for every other. Hakimi is an example, one among many, as sometimes he would attack and forget to defend, so he cooled his heels on the bench for a couple of games. He learned.

“Darmian replaced Hakimi last week and that i think he was Man of the Match against Genoa.”

Alexis Sanchez replaced Lautaro Martinez tonight and scored his first brace within the Inter jersey.

“As I said, he’s within the best condition we’ve ever seen him at the instant . We were patient with him too. He knows only diligence will take him to a particular level, and now Romelu and Lautaro know that Sanchez is true behind them too. It’s important for us to make these situations with competition for places.

“Don’t forget for a year-and-a-half we had to hold on with just Lukaku and Lautaro, nobody else. We had Sebastiano Esposito last season, he’s now in Serie B at Venezia.

“I’ve never had any choices to form here. I just had to wish and hope nobody got injured. Now I even have some choice and it’s an exquisite feeling.

“The players know I’m democratic, i select who deserves it and that they all feel they’re involved during this project.”

Inter are six points beyond Milan, with Juventus even further back, so are they deed with the Scudetto?

“We are during a excellent position, certainly a huge improvement from last season, but we also know every game may be a battle and that we can drop points against anyone. that’s why we must not ever underestimate any opponent.

“We want to try to to our greatest . If our greatest means we are here at the top of the season, we’ll be very happy and proud, because it’ll mean we’ve made incredible leaps forward during a very short period of your time .”
