Christian Eriksen Is Exactly the Player Inter & Antonio Conte Need to Topple Juventus

For the whole of 2019, talk of Christian Eriksen’s future seemed to plague Tottenham Hotspur beyond annoyance and into boredom. It probably did the same for every Premier League fan for that matter.

But finally, the Dane’s future looks like it’s going to be resolved, with Inter reportedly closing in on a deal.

Eriksen had been angling away for a move for a while, and had reportedly hoped that a move to Real Madrid, Barcelona or Juventus would happen last summer.

It didn’t.

Despite this, the fact of the matter is that Eriksen is a superb player and would strengthen many a team around Europe. His poor performances for Spurs in the last year are not an indication of the quality he possesses – 51 goals and 62 assists in 223 Premier League games speaks for itself. But he just clearly no longer wants to be at the club and is no longer fully focused.

Although he would strengthen many teams, he wouldn’t strengthen every team. He is undoubtedly a great player, but not a player of the highest calibre.

This is why perhaps why a move to Inter would make so much sense. The ?Serie A side are rejuvenated under Antonio Conte, and are looking to get back to the big time.

They are currently in the middle of an intense title race with Juventus, showcasing the fact that Conte has already made an instant impact.

The Nerazzurri are a big club, but not to the level of the three clubs previously mentioned. That’s why this could be the perfect club for Eriksen.

The silky playmaker could fit superbly in to this Inter side. Conte has created a typically strong and hard-working side, but sometimes they miss that extra class, that extra pass that is so often needed.

Eriksen would bring that. He would offer a different dimension to Inter, and with the in-form tandem of ?Romelu? Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez ahead of him, he could be a pivotal cog in Conte’s side. An accomplished crosser and operator in half spaces,

Inter’s front two are in fabulous form this season, bagging 24 goals between each other in the league. Imagine what they could do with a creator as proficient and efficient as Eriksen feeding them.

As well as that, Inter have dropped some silly points this season that could prove crucial at the end of the campaign. Examples include a 0-0 home draw against Roma, and more recently a 1-1 draw at home to Atalanta.

If Eriksen was there, he may have produced that added bit of quality needed to win a game. How often have we seen the Dane fire in a goal for Spurs late on to win a game? Inter know this first hand – last season, he bagged the winner with 10 minutes to go in the Champions League against them to secure a 1-0 win.

He’s a man who could so easily turn one point into three, something that is much-needed in a title race.

Another attribute that Conte will absolutely love about Eriksen is his work ethic. We know the Italian needs his players to run and run and run. The Dane did just that for Spurs until he began protecting himself from injury to secure a move.

Mauricio Pochettino also loved Eriksen because of his ability off the ball, so often crucial with his pressing and constantly tracking back to work for the team. He would always be a player who manages to cover some of the highest distances during a game on a regular basis.

All this suggests that he is such an Antonio Conte player, and it is a signing that makes so much sense. If a deal is completed, then it will be a superb signing from the Nerazzurri, and would be a massive signal of intent midway through the season.

You just never know, he could prove to be the difference in this season’s Serie A title race.
