Jose Mourinho faces one of his former clubs in the Guiness International Champions Cup and Willie Duncan is backing his current side to claim victory
Jose Mourinho’s second spell as manager of Chelsea continues when the Blues go head-to-head with Inter in the Guiness International Champions Cup at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis on Friday.
The clash will, of course, see Mourinho meet one of his former employers and Paddy Power go even money (2.0) that the Portuguese manager steers his side to victory over Inter.
Inter endured a hugely disappointing campaign last term, finishing a lowly ninth in Serie A, but they will hope that the appointment of Walter Mazzarri as head coach will spark an upturn in fortunes for the 2010 European champions.
Inter are chalked up as a 12/5 (3.40) chance with Paddy Power to shock Mourinho’s men on Friday morning while the same firm offer odds of 23/10 (3.30) that the match ends level after 90 minutes.
Former Newcastle United star Demba Ba could lead the line for the west London club this term and the 28-year-old Senegalese striker can be backed at 9/2 (5.50) with Paddy Power to net the opener.
Another player likely to be given a chance to impress under Mourinho’s stewardship is Romelu Lukaku.
The 20-year-old forward scored an impressive 17 goals in 35 league appearances for West Bromwich Albion last term and is available at a juicy 5/1 (6.0) to open the scoring against Inter.
Argentine striker Mauro Icardi was on target for Walter Mazzarri’s men at the weekend as they began their pre-season preparations with a 1-1 draw against Hamburg and the 20-year-old front man is chalked up at 13/2 (7.50) to score first here.
Icardi’s fellow countryman, Diego Milito, is likely to pose another threat to the Blues and the veteran striker is chalked up at 5/1 (6.0) to bag the opening goal of the contest.
However, it seems likely that Chelsea can claim a victory here and punters should snap up Paddy Power’s generous even money (2.0) quote for the Blues to get the better of Inter on Friday.
Lukaku will be desperate to make a positive impression on the new Chelsea boss and looks solid value at 5/1 (6.0) with Paddy Power to score first so those seeking to bag bigger prices should back the Belgian to break the deadlock.
