Moratti: "Stramaccioni, just good"

MILAN (ANSA) – "After 17 seconds I was worried that we’d got off to a bad start, then when I saw it was offside I thought it’s the same old story. Our players did very well to respond to an injustice like that." That was Inter president Massimo Moratti speaking on Premium Calcio’s Serie A Live programme.

"Stramaccioni doesn’t need to be compared to Mourinho: he’s just good, he’s surprising," Moratti added. "I’d known he was planning to go with three up front for three days. Now I’m happy because what seemed to be a transition season is now starting to look interesting. But let’s wait a bit before talking up our title challenge."

Stramaccioni: "Hard work, thorough preparation"

TURIN – "I tried to prepare
for the game as well as I possibly could. It was a bit annoying to
hear a Juventus official [Beppe Marotta, Ed.] making ironic comments
before kick-off. I wonder if he thinks the same now, given that he
joked about ‘Stramaccioni’s recklessness’…" That was Andrea
Stramaccioni‘s first remark after watching his side beat the Bianconeri at the Juventus
Stadium.

He went on: "We work hard all week, we prepare for
everything down to the last detail. We won this game deservedly despite a couple of decisions. I think we should be shown a bit of respect. We’ve beaten
Juve after they hadn’t lost for a few games…"

The Nerazzurri coach then analysed the match: "Inter started off
well regardless of their goal and as the minutes passed we kept growing. That’s the first time I’ve seen Juventus struggle like that. At
half time I was sure we’d get ourselves back in the match. It’s
in situations like these that you see how good you are. Inter are on
the up. Is this the best day of my career? The best day of my career
was when the president chose me to coach Inter. I’m proud to be the
Inter coach and I’m happy for our fans who can enjoy this win."

Stramaccioni also reserved a few words of praise "for the job Palacio
and Milito did on Pirlo, that was incredible. I said
yesterday that we wanted to win it but nobody believed me."

Milito: "Repaid for our courage"

TURIN – "It was a really tough game, we knew it would be, but we did it." Two-goal hero Diego Milito was understandably satisfied at the final whistle.

The Nerazzurri striker continued: "We were still half asleep when they scored their goal. It caught us out – although it was offside – but then we won deservedly. We have to push on now and try to keep playing like this, winning games, all the way to the end. How did we feel at half time? Very annoyed about their offside goal and the fact that Lichtsteiner hadn’t been sent off, but we showed great courage and we were repaid for it."

Serie A: Juventus 1-3 Inter

TURIN – Inter emerged victorious from a throbbing, packed Juventus Stadium. 3-1 the final score with two from Milito and one from Palacio, after the Bianconeri had taken an early lead with a goal that should have been disallowed for offside and Lichtsteiner was inexplicably spared a second yellow.

The first half was just 18 seconds old when Vidal put the Old Lady in front. However, the Chilean was set up by Asamoah, who received the ball in an offside position that went unnoticed by the match officials. After Cambiasso had twice taken aim without success, Palacio thought he had headed Inter level in the 12th minute, only for the linesman’s offside flag to deny him. Cassano then curled an effort inches wide as the Nerazzurri probed for an equaliser. Meanwhile Handanovic was doing his job well down the other end and the teams went in at the break with the score at 1-0.

Inter came out from the dressing rooms with renewed vigour as they set out on the hunt for the goal they deserved. It came just before the hour mark: Marchisio held Milito back inside the box, the Prince dusted himself off and buried the spot kick past Buffon. The comeback was complete after 75 minutes when newly entered substitute Guarin drew a save out of the Bianconeri No.1 with a stinging drive and Milito was on hand to tuck home the rebound. The third came on the counter with Nagatomo doing superbly to maintain possession under pressure before threading through for Palacio to finish.

The Nerazzurri remain in second but move up to 27 points, one less than the Bianconeri, whose 49-game unbeaten run is now over.
