Achraf Hakimi’s agent assures the player chose Inter and is ‘very happy, but I don’t know what the longer term holds.’
The deal was finished €40m, to be paid to Real Madrid over four instalments, plus up to €5m in bonuses.
“The player himself made the choice to move to Inter,” agent Alejandro Camano told Calciomercato.it.
“Already two or three years ago, Piero Ausilio had spoken to us about the chance of bringing him to Milan.
“After his spell at Borussia Dortmund, that interest was renewed and Hakimi decided to transfer to Inter.”
There had been some reports that Real Madrid would attempt to bring Hakimi back, especially if Inter couldn’t continue the payments amid their liquidity issues.
“As of today, he’s very happy to play for such a crucial club. I don’t know what the longer term holds, but I say today that Hakimi is happy and his team is Inter.
“The objective is to win the Scudetto. At the moment, Inter’s situation at the club level is complicated, but I repeat: we are very happy here in football terms.
“He features a five-year contract, we signed because we were so confident of Inter’s project. We’ll see what happens in future, but this is often a really important step in his career.
“We certainly don’t intend on leaving the team in such a fragile situation.”
