Zuniga snubs Juventus for Napoli extension

The Colombia international has ended all speculation about his future by signing a five-year extension

Napoli have announced on their official website that Colombian wing-back Juan Camilo Zuniga has signed a new contract until the summer of 2019.

The 27-year-old’s previous deal with the Stadio San Paolo side was due to expire at the end of the season and Juventus and Inter were closely monitoring the midfielder’s situation.

However, Zuniga has now opted against a move away from Napoli and has inked a five-year extension instead, much to the delight of club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

“I have always believed in Camilo and he has always believed in Napoli,” De Laurentiis said.

“Figures? He gets what he deserves. He has always worked hard for the team and has always remained humble. He deserves this recognition.”

Zuniga joined Napoli from Siena in the summer of 2009 and has since made over 100 Serie A appearances for the Partenopei.

“I’d like to thank the president for his faith and the fans for the affection they’ve shown me. I am very happy at Napoli and would like to end my career at his club,” Zuniga commented on his contract renewal.
