Zanetti keen to continue Inter 'adventure'

The 40-year-old is expected to retire at the end of the season and he makes not secret about the fact that he would like to find another role for himself at Appiano Gentile

Javier Zanetti has admitted that he would like to continue his “adventure” at Inter – but once ruled out taking up a coaching position at San Siro.

The former Argentina international has only just returned to action following an Achilles injury and his primary focus at the moment is on working his back to full fitness.

However, Zanetti remains open about the fact that he hopes that the Nerazzurri can find another role for him at Appiano Gentile when he decides to call time on his playing days.

“Frankly, I do not know what I’ll do, but I have always said that I would like to continue my adventure with the Inter family,” the 40-year-old told L’Equipe.

“I think everything will be sorted when the time comes. It will also depend on the president [Erick Thohir]. But in any case, I don’t see myself as a coach.

“I can assure you that right now I’m thinking only of finishing the season in the best way possible.

“Later, I’ll calmly think about what I can do in the future.”

When asked about his remarkable career, Zanetti humbly attributed its incredible longevity to nothing more than a positive attitude.

“The passion, the work ethic and the love I feel for this profession are my secrets,” the versatile defender stated. “And today I have the ambition to be useful, to be an additional solution for my team.”
