Totti: Anything is possible with this Roma team

The Giallorossi captain has suggested that the Scudetto is not out of his side’s reach this season after he inspired the league leaders to a 3-0 win over Inter at San Siro

Francesco Totti believes that Roma must retain a cautious optimism over their Serie A chances after an impressive 3-0 victory against Inter.

Totti struck twice and Alessandro Florenzi grabbed a third as the Giallorossi maintained their 100 per cent league record at the expense of the Nerazzurri on Saturday.

The Italy veteran maintains Rudi Garcia’s side will not become distracted by growing talk of a possible title challenge, but believes the chances of success this season are made easier by the lack of expectation prior to the campaign.

“For now, ‘Scudetto‘ is a word that does not concern us,” the 37-year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“There are a couple of bigger teams that are stronger than us, but anything is possible with this group. We do not hide. We feel free to do whatever we can because nobody would have expected a start like that.”

Totti has been inspirational in leading Roma to seven wins from seven so far this season, with Garcia describing the experienced attacker as one of the game’s best-ever players following the win at San Siro.

The World Cup-winner’s form has prompted calls for a possible return to the Italy national team, but Totti has stressed he is concentrating solely on enjoying his club football for now.

“I’m enjoying the moment,” the forward continued.

“Winning in this way is always beautiful but I’m not thinking about national team for now.

“We are a united group with world-class players. Everything is working beautifully.”
