Tottenham Could Keep Christian Eriksen Until the Summer With Inter ‘Way Off’ Valuation

?Tottenham may ultimately keep Christian Eriksen until the end of the season after reaching an impasse in negotiations with Inter over a January move.

The Denmark international has just six months left on his contract in north London and will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, prompting Italian giants Inter to launch a cut-price offer to sign Eriksen this month.

But The Independent reports that Antonio Conte’s side are still ‘way off’ Tottenham’s £25m valuation – with Inter cheekily offering as little as £8m in their opening bid.

It’s understood that Inter are Eriksen’s first choice when it comes to his next club, ruling out a move to Paris Saint-Germain due to concerns over game time.

Thomas Tuchel has been shoehorning Neymar, Kylian MbappéÁngel Di María and Mauro Icardi into his starting lineup over the last few weeks, leaving just two spots available in midfield for Marco Verratti and Idrissa Gueye.

At Inter, meanwhile, Eriksen has been assured he will be a regular first-team player and he could prove to be a title winner too, with Conte’s side sitting just two points behind Juventus in the Serie A table.

Tottenham manager José Mourinho wants to move Eriksen on as soon as possible this month before the wantaway’s presence becomes a disruptive influence, but the club’s decision-makers aren’t willing to budge too much over their £25m valuation and won’t sell the Dane for the sake of it.

Eriksen and his camp are also happy to run his contract down to leave on a free transfer in the summer, which could open more doors for him at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old has previously been heavily linked with Real Madrid, while long-term suitors Manchester United and Juventus could re-enter the race for Eriksen’s signature after ruling out a move for him in the January window.
