TEAM NEWS: Gallas & Defoe start for Tottenham against Inter

The Spurs duo return to the starting line-up following victory over Arsenal as the visitors make four changes ahead of Thursday’s Europa League last-16 first-leg meeting

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has named William Gallas and Jermain Defoe in his starting line-up for Thursday’s Europa League clash with Inter.

The pair missed out on Sunday’s north London derby win over Arsenal but replace Michael Dawson and Emmanuel Adebayor in defence and attack, respectively.

Spurs make just one further alteration to their starting XI, with Brad Friedel coming in for Hugo Lloris in goal.

Meanwhile, Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni has made a host of changes after his side required a last-gasp goal to earn a 3-2 win over Catania in a game in which they trailed 2-0 after 19 minutes.

Tomasso Rochi, Zdravko Kuzmanovic, Fredy Guarin and Ezequiel Schelotto all make way, with Esteban Cambiasso, Mateo Kovacic, Antonio Cassano and Andrea Rannochia selected to start.

Tottenham starting XI:

Inter starting XI: Handanovic; Zanetti, Ranocchia, Chivu, Juan Jesus; Gargano, Cambiasso; Alvarez, Kovavic, Pereira; Cassano
