Stramaccioni: I never doubted Alvarez

The attacking midfielder has been one of the Nerazzurri’s star performers in the second half of the season after a difficult start to his San Siro career

Andrea Stramaccioni has taken the time to praise Ricky Alvarez following the Argentine’s good performances for Inter in recent months.

The attacking midfielder struggled to find his best form in the first half of the 2012-13 campaign, but has developed into a key player at the Giuseppe Meazza side after the winter break.

“I’ve never had any doubts about Alvarez. The most positive thing is that he’s playing consistently,” Stramaccioni was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

“Let’s not forget that he had undergone surgery that complicated his start to the season, and then he struggled to find consistency.

“But now he’s won over the San Siro, which is one of the positive notes of this end to the season.”

The 25-year-old, who joined Inter from Velez Sarsfield in the summer of 2011, has netted four goals in 20 Serie A appearances so far this season.
