Serie A Team of the Week: Top Totti continues Roma's run

Goal runs through the big hitters in the latest round of top-flight action in Italy

Francesco Totti was once again the star of the show in Italy, with his performance leading Roma to a seventh straight win and earning the Giallorossi skipper a place in the latest Serie A Team of the Week.

Andrea Consigli was another matchwinner over the weekend, producing a string of top saves to help Atalanta see off Chievo, while Danilo‘s commanding display was a feature of Udinese’s success over Cagliari. Giorgio Chiellini netted in Juventus’ 3-2 win over Milan, and Leandro Castan was key in Roma keeping their mantle of the best defence in Europe as they overcame Inter.

Verona’s huge 4-1 success over Bologna was inspired by the midfield mastery of Romulo, and Gokhan Inler was similarly dominant in Napoli’s 4-0 win against Livorno. Sulley Muntari may have been on the losing side, but he bookended Milan’s loss at Juventus Stadium with goals in the first minute and the 90th, while Alessandro Florenzi‘s wonderful first-time strike capped Roma’s night of Magica at San Siro.

Up top, Juan Iturbe was superb in Verona’s victory and Antonio Cassano‘s excellent display and crucial goal helped 10-man Parma past Sassuolo. But there was one stand-out star in round seven, with Totti deserving all the plaudits for his two goals and terrific play in Roma’s resounding 3-0 success over Inter.
