Serie A Team of the Week: Tevez takes the honours as Rafael excels again

The latest round of Italian top-flight action saw some familiar names put in star performances

Round 26 of the Serie A season was headlined by two matches which helped to push the title ever-nearer to Juventus, and all four teams are involved in the latest Goal Team of the Week.

Verona-Bologna may not have been the key clash of the weekend at the top, but Rafael‘s stunning display between the sticks ensured Bologna remain a big name down the bottom. He’s protected by Rolando and Alessio Romagnoli, who were stars at either side of the pitch as Roma and Inter cancelled each other out, with Lorik Cana joining them following his match-winning goal and clean sheet for Lazio at Fiorentina.

Milan may well have lost to Juventus but their display was encouraging, and Adel Taarabt was key to that. Stefano Sturaro and Luca Antonelli were the goalscoring heroes for Genoa as they overcame struggling Catania, and Luca Cigarini capped a fine afternoon’s work for Atalanta with the late winner against Chievo.

Dries Mertens was a rare bright spot for Napoli in an otherwise disappointing trip to Livorno, netting the penalty which gained Rafa Benitez’s side a point, while Stefano Okaka helped Sampdoria bounce back from defeat to Milan with a goal in the 2-0 win at Torino. But it was Carlos Tevez who grabbed the headlines following his superb goal which rounded off a wonderful individual performance as Juventus beat Milan at San Siro to go 11 points clear at the summit.
