Ranocchia: Defeat will inspire Inter

The defender is confident the Nerazzurri will bounce back from this weekend’s shock loss to Torino

Andrea Ranocchia believes Sunday’s 1-0 Serie A defeat against Torino will only inspire Inter to show what they are capable of in the weeks to come.

Roberto Mancini’s men dominated proceedings at the Giuseppe Meazza, but a late goal from Emiliano Moretti eventually saw the visitors snatch the three points.

Nevertheless, Ranocchia saw plenty of positives.

“A defeat like this can do us good and inspire us all to give something extra. We’re all really fired up now,” the Inter skipper told Sky Sport.

“We need to focus on picking up points – anything can happen in football and we can take some points off the teams ahead of us when we meet head to head.

“The coach has tried to pick us up – we need to do better against teams that play on the counterattack against us. We need to keep working as we are. It’s not a physical issue.

“We barely had any space and couldn’t find a way through in the final third. We all went to sleep for the goal, unfortunately. It’s tough to lose like that.”

Inter sit ninth in the Serie A table with 26 points from 20 games.
