"What do the fans say when I meet them in the street? They
greet me affectionately, they pay me compliments, and then they say
things like ‘Win everything again please’ or ‘We must win this year!’
I tell them that, as always, I’ll do everything I can to win with
Inter again." Zanetti smiled during
this evening’s edition of Prima Serata as he recalled conversations had with fans.
His smile grew wider still
when he was joined by another voice on the phone, a voice
that Pupi recognised instantly: "Elio! A great fan, a great musician. He’s always behind us. We’ve shared lots of moments together, he’s
one of the greatest singers. I’ve sung with him before too – as many
people know, I like to indulge in a bit of singing."
Elio confirmed that the skipper’s talents are not only in his feet: "He has an
incredible voice, a unique charisma. In 10 or 15 years’ time, when he
quits playing, he can come and join our band ‘Elio e le Storie Tese’. We can always do with a voice like his!"
