Pereira: "We'll move on with confidence high"

GENOA – After putting in another convincing display this evening, Alvaro Pereira reflected on the problems Inter encountered at the Stadio Lugi Ferraris: “It was a difficult
surface to play on, a bit dry and the grass was long,” the
Uruguayan explained to Inter Channel. “It wasn’t easy at all but
fortunately we got the win.”

The full-back was then asked about his own performance: “It was important for me to get a run
going and build up my confidence. I always aim to do what’s best for
the team. You get matches where things don’t got so well but I want to
improve all the time. We played an intelligent game and we
knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but it was important to win especially after losing on Saturday. Now we’ll move on to Atalanta with morale high. We need
to take each game as it comes.”

Asked about Rodrigo
Palacio’s red-hot form, Pereira replied: “He’s having a fantastic
season and hopefully he’ll keep it up until the end of the year. We’ll
do everything we can to help him.”

Handanovic: "Happy with the points, we can improve"

GENOA – Samir Handaovic spoke to Inter Channel after the Nerazzurri’s deserved win over Sampdoria: “We played well. Perhaps we suffered a little in the second half but we defended well and got a good result to take home.

“When you win it always seems that everything is fine, but there are areas where we need to improve if we want to do better. However, it was important to win and we’re pleased with the three points.”

Kovacic: "I must keep trying to improve my game"

GENOA – Mateo Kovacic stopped to offer his thoughts after Inter’s win over Sampdoria: “It was difficult to take a grip of things in the middle of the park today but we got the three points and that’s all that matters.”

The Croatian youngster added: “I’m happy to be here but I still need to settle in properly and I can do a lot better. I have to keep working hard and trying to improve my game.”

Stramaccioni calls for consistency

GENOA – “It was
crucial for us get this win tonight, the lads were
very aware of
that. It was important for us after games against Tottenham and
Juve when we played well, today we got the result as well. What’s
even more important is that we now find some consistency.
That
was Andrea Stramaccioni’s first comment after watching his side claim
three points at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris thanks to Rodrigo Palacio’s
double.

The coach went on to praise the Argentine striker, who took his total to 22
goals for the season with his brace this evening: “His was the
first name I put to my president, the first player we decided to build things around. His season is worth double: he’s come on loads and has become one of
the leaders of this team.”

Stramaccioni was asked for a comment about Mauro Icardi: “He looked very
good. He’s one of the best youngsters around in Serie A.”

As for Matias Silvestre: “I think he played very well tonight. When
Sampdoria were having their best spell, he showed he’s capable of performing well. Why didn’t Samuel play? We need to handle him carefully
and we didn’t want to push anything by putting him through two games so
close together.”

The coach also reserved praise for Mateo Kovacic: “He was the deep-lying playmaker that I was
after. He’s an absolute top-class player, Inter have made a sound
investment there. Guarin? Overall I’m satisfied with his
performance.”
