Moratti bemoans Roma penalty decision

The Nerazzurri supremo was enraged by the decision to award the Giallorossi a penalty for a foul on Gervinho that television replays suggested may have occurred outside the box

Inter president Massimo Moratti has expressed his disappointment with the performance of the match officials in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat by Roma.

The Giallorossi were already leading through Francesco Totti when Gervinho was felled by Alvaro Pereira as he entered the hosts’ penalty area.

The referee pointed to the spot but Moratti was in no doubt that foul had been committed outside the box.

“I’m disappointed that there are three people there watching and none of them got it right,” the 68-year-old oil tycoon told his club’s official website.

“You could see it was outside the box but you don’t get angry. That’s how it went, you can’t get worked up about it, you always hope you can come back.

“It’s the start of the season, you keep thinking these are mistakes that can happen.”

Totti converted the subsequent penalty before Alessandro Florenzi added a third right on the stroke of half-time to consign Inter, who now sit fourth, to a first Serie A defeat this season.
