Milito vital for Inter, says Mazzarri

The Nerazzurri coach has nothing but praise for the veteran attacker ahead of his return from injury against Lazio

Walter Mazzarri has highlighted the importance of Diego Milito for Inter as they prepare for Monday’s Serie A encounter away against Lazio.

The Argentine striker has been out of action ever since Inter’s 3-0 loss against Roma in October, but he is ready to make his comeback at the Stadio Olimpico, much to the delight of Mazzarri.

“Diego seems to be in pretty good shape to me. Like all players who are out of action for a long while, he needs a bit of time to get his rhythm, but he’s doing well,” the Nerazzurri coach said at a press conference.

“And even if he’s not in top form, Milito is important in certain moments in the game for his savvy and the way he worries the opponents.

“He’s a player I’m glad to have back again. I’ll take him and then we’ll see based on how the game goes.

“Milito gives us something extra.”

The 34-year-old has netted two goals in three Serie A appearances so far this term.
