Masuaku: Roma move would be 'a dream'

The in-demand left-back has admitted that he would jump at the opportunity to line out in the same team as Italy icon Francesco Totti

Olympiakos defender Arthur Masuaku has revealed that his “dream” is to join Roma but added that playing alongside Geoffrey Kondogbia at Inter also appeals to him.

The French full-back is being heavily linked with a move to Serie A before the close of the summer transfer window and he has admitted that he has his heart set on linking up with Giallorossi icon Francesco Totti at the Stadio Olimpico.

However, Masuaku played alongside Kondogbia at Lens and is open to being reunited with the €40 million man at San Siro.

“I am coming off an important season, my second as a professional,” the 21-year-old told Gazzetta dello Sport. “I’m pleased by the interest of some great teams, because it means that I’ve done well.

“I must, however, still improve in the defensive phase. But I have time to grow; I’m young.

“Italy, with a very tactical type of football, would help me. But as of today I’m still waiting for news.

“I follow Roma because Serie A is one of the best leagues in the world. For me, it would be a dream.

“It’s a team that is competing in the Champions League and every year they fight to win the Scudetto.

“Then there is a legend like Totti. And also [Daniel] De Rossi and the coach [Rudi] Garcia.

“I would not be able to say no to an offer from Roma. But we will see what happens.

“I know that there’s also interest from Inter and there I would be reunited with a brother like Kondogbia, whom I grew up alongside at Lens.

“For now, however, I’m thinking only of Olympiakos, a team that is also playing in the Champions League.

“In football, one never knows. We’ll just have to wait to see what will happen.”

Masuaku, who joined Olympiakos from Valenciennes in 2014, still has three years left on this contract with the Greek outfit.
