The Croatia international was delighted with Monday’s away win and is keen to keep improving himself and become a key figure
Mateo Kovacic has underlined the importance of Inter’s 2-0 win over Chievo on Monday evening and believes bagging the full three points was vital for their Serie A ambitions.
The Giuseppe Meazza side recorded a 2-0 win at the Stadio Bentegodi courtesy of goals from Kovacic and Andrea Ranocchia – their first league win in five games and first victory since Roberto Mancini’s return at the helm.
And the Croatia international is keen to build on the victory when they meet Lazio at the weekend.
“It was a very important match for us and it’s three vital points,” Kovacic told Inter Channel.
“We’re happy to have got the win and I think we showed a lot of physicality to do so.
“We want to keep it up against Lazio.”
The 20-year-old is regarded as one of Inter’s most important players and he is keen to keep on improving and help the team.
“The boss tells me to move intelligently and get through my defensive work just like the rest of the team.
“I need to improve the way I find space and I’ll do that with the coach’s help.”
Kovacic has netted three goals in 15 Serie A appearances so far this term.
