The Montenegrin striker is delighted to have begun his competitive Nerazzurri career in matchwinning style
Stevan Jovetic has admitted he did not expect to make such an immediate impact at Inter after netting his third goal in two games on Sunday.
The Montenegro international moved to San Siro ahead of the Serie A campaign after a frustrating, injury-ridden two years at Manchester City.
The ex-Fiorentina man’s return to Italy has been an immediate success as he has been Inter’s match-winner in each of the first two games of the 2015-16 campaign.
“I wasn’t expecting such a great start, but I’m happy that we’ve won again tonight and showed the strength to come back,” Jovetic told Mediaset Premium. “We’re performing well so I’m happy.
“Inter have had a great transfer window and now we have another top player in Ivan Perisic. I’m feeling better and better – now I just need consistency and goals. We’re two matches in and need to keep giving 100 per cent to hit our target of third place.
“I’m absolutely delighted. It’s so important to score as a striker, but I wouldn’t have managed it without my team-mates.
“It was important to start well – points are all that matter at this stage of the season. We have the international break now ahead of the derby.
“I want to show exactly what I can do. I like playing as close to goal as possible because it means I can be more decisive, but it’s up to the boss to decide where to play me.
“Eder? He scored an incredible goal and I’d be happy to have him here at Inter.”
