Inter Star Icardi Opens Up About Childhood Love for Inter & Claims He Is Over Autobiography ‘Mess’

Mauro Icardi has put last season’s controversies relating to his fractious relationship with the fans behind him, admitting it was “bad for everyone.”

The Argentine striker, who claims to have grown up playing as Inter on his Playstation, has risen to new heights of popularity this year after dragging his club to the second place in the table and scoring an impressive 11 goals in ten matches.

As the crowd at San Siro endlessly cheered him after his hat-trick against arch-rivals AC Milan in the derby, he has revealed Italian magazine Undici that he had always been a Nerazzuro.

He said (via  Football Italia): “I’ve been an Inter fan since I was a child. I always played as Inter on the PlayStation.

“There was Adriano before, and I liked him so much,” but his favourite player has always been Ronaldo: “He made history in this sport.”

Icardi’s new notoriety comes after a previously stormy season at the club marred by clashes with fans, threats to leave and a controversial autobiography which included accusations that made supporters fill with anger.

However, the striker claims that everything is calm now and that all problems have been sorted out: “The fans love us, and I want the best for the team and fans. The whole ordeal made me feel sick, but it’s been set aside. Whether we win or lose, we always thank our fans at the end of the game”.

He regrets his past actions so much that, if he could choose a mistake to take back, he wouldn’t hesitate.

The part of my book that caused a mess. I love Inter so much, it was a bad thing for everyone,” he added.

During the 2016 summer transfer window, he came close to joining Serie A opponents Napoli after the league leaders sold Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus and were looking for a new striker.

Icardi justified these claims by saying: “My agent spoke to the club about these things. There was a bit of a mess last year, but I’ve always been calm. I’ve always given my all to Inter.”
