Inter players still behind Mazzarri, says Ranocchia

The defender says that he and his team-mates continue to believe that the former Napoli boss is the right man for the job – despite back-to-back defeats in Serie A

Inter captain Andrea Ranocchia has insisted that the players are still behind head coach Walter Mazzarri irrespective of the club’s poor start to the 2014-15 campaign.

The Giuseppe Meazza outfit were beaten 3-0 by Fiorentina on Sunday evening and have dropped to 10th place in the Serie A table following this weekend’s results.

“We’re right behind the coach; we’re on a journey together,” Ranocchia told Inter Channel.

“The coach and all the players are really disappointed, but now we need to push on. After moments like these we need to stick together and put our heads down.

“The break will do us good; we were tired after the last few games. We’ll be ready after the international break.”

Inter resume Serie A action at home against Napoli on October 19 and Ranocchia is confident they’ll show what they’re made of against Rafa Benitez’s men.

“Napoli will be a tough match but it’s a home game, so we will be confident,” the centre-half argued.

Mazzarri only arrived at San Siro last summer and led the club to a fifth-place finish in his first season at the helm.
