Inter must cut out mistakes, warns Ranocchia

The Italy international has urged his team-mates to keep their feet on the ground despite their stunning start to the season and feels Juventus remain Scudetto favourites

Andrea Ranocchia has insisted that Inter cannot afford to rest on their laurels after their good start to the season and must keep working hard to cut out mistakes in their play.

The Giuseppe Meazza side are still unbeaten five games into the 2013-14 campaign and sit second in the Serie A table with 13 points, trailing leaders Roma by just two following a fine 2-1 win over Fiorentina this week.

Nevertheless, Ranocchia has urged his team-mates to keep their feet on the ground and continue to work hard in their revival under Walter Mazzarri.

“We’re doing a lot of hard work and that’s the only thing that pays off,” the centre-back told Sky Sport 24.

“But we still need to cut out the mistakes. With Mazzarri we’re still working on the details. We need to keep going because the season is very long.”

Ranocchia then went on to discuss Inter’s title chances and stressed that champions Juventus remain the favourites to claim a third successive crown.

“Juventus are the team to beat because they’ve won the last two titles, but we should also be wary of Roma,” added the 25-year-old.

“We must think about ourselves though because, sooner or later, we have to play everyone. Let’s say it’s a year that’s started well.”
