APPIANO GENTILE – In an
hour and a half’s time you can see an exclusive interview with Gian Piero Gasperini on the 19:30 edition of Inter Channel’s news programme (Sky Italia, channel 232), which the coach gave
after this morning’s practice match against Inter’s Under-18 team at the Centro
Sportivo Angelo Moratti.
You can read a sneak preview of the interview here on inter.it.
Gasperini, who picked up
his whistle to referee the match, kept his watch running for 77
minutes (42 in the first half, 35 in the second), after the first part of the training session was dedicated to warming up in the gym. "It was an excellent work-out played at
a good pace and the right level of intensity, especially in the
first half. Credit must go to the Juniores kids for their effort: they did
very well today and it just goes to show how much quality there is in Inter’s
youth academy," said the Turin-born coach. He went on: "The players that have
only been back a few days are already in pretty good shape. They
aren’t too far behind the lads we’ve been working with since the
start of pre-season in Pinzolo, and that means they kept themselves fit
during the holidays. That’s great because they always bring hard work and character to the pitch, besides their obvious technical ability which we all know is the
basis of this group."
Gasperini was referring to
Esteban Cambiasso, Lucio, Maicon, Diego Milito and also Jonathan,
who was involved in a practice match with his new
team-mates for the first time having completed his recovery and the specific preparation
designed by Inter’s medical staff for him, the Brazilian having arrived in
Italy carrying a muscle injury that he picked up at the end of his time with
Santos. The coach made the most of today’s session to take a good look at the South Americans in particular because from
Monday 15 August (in the afternoon) the whole squad will be back together apart from Julio Cesar, who is on leave till Thursday 18.
There are just two pre-season tests left for Gian Piero Gasperini and the Nerazzurri (2011 TIM Trophy in Bari on Thursday
18 and against Olympiakos in Geneva on Sunday 21) before the Serie A
2011/12 campaign kicks off on Sunday 28 against Lecce).
