Marco Materazzi has again criticised Rafael Benitez, implying that his record at Europe’s top clubs suggests that he is over-rated as a coach.
The former Everton, Inter and Italy centre-back is known for his spiky relationship with the Spaniard, who coached him at San Siro in 2010 after taking over from Jose Mourinho.
And after fiercely criticising Benitez in January over his Real Madrid tenure, Materazzi has now poked fun at his record at some of Europe’s biggest clubs while accusing his ex-boss of a lack of understanding.

“I would be the last person to try and cause problems, but just look at what happened in London (Chelsea), Napoli or Madrid,” he told Sky.
“In the end the facts speak for themselves. Those words say everything about his behaviour. “
“I am tough on him, but I do not have anything against him. He came [to Inter] when I was finishing my career.
“I understand his situation, but it is sometimes better to put yourself in the place of someone who is not playing, which he never did.”
