?Barcelona officials would be open to selling midfielder Arturo Vidal in January, but manager Ernesto Valverde would prefer to keep the Chilean at Camp Nou.
Vidal has started just four games in La Liga this season, with many of his 14 appearances lasting less than 20 minutes. Given he is not a regular starter, he has been heavily linked with a move elsewhere.
?Inter boss Antonio Conte is understood to be keen on reuniting with ?Vidal in the January transfer window, and ?La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the midfielder has already reached a verbal agreement with Inter.
I Nerazzurri have offered €12m to sign the Chilean, but ?Barcelona are looking for €20m. Many at the club would be happy to allow Vidal to leave, but manager Valverde is firmly against the idea.
Valverde sees the 32-year-old as an experienced head who is always reliable whenever he is called upon. Despite his reduced role, Vidal has actually managed five goals this season, and the boss does not want to lose his influence in the dressing room.
Vidal himself has confirmed that he has ?left his agent to discuss a January move away from Camp Nou, although he did insist that he would be happy to stay as he wants to celebrate the ?La Liga title at the end of the season.
Barcelona are understood to be ?looking at Inter’s Stefano Sensi in the summer, which is why they would be happy to let Vidal go, and there is even a chance that they could boost their chances of signing Sensi by sending Vidal to Inter in return.
It is not hard to understand why Valverde would want to keep Vidal, but the board will likely have the final say. He has just 18 months remaining on his contract, and given his lack of minutes, he is by no means a vital player at Camp Nou.
A reunion with Conte, with whom Vidal enjoyed three years at ?Juventus between 2011 and 2014, certainly appears likely at this moment in time, but it may all come down to whether Inter are prepared to increase their offer.
