Appiano: 77 minutes, 8 goals, brace for Milito

APPIANO GENTILE – It was an
evenly balanced first half, with Inter’s Juniores Berretti team
coached by Sergio Zanetti (captain Javier’s brother) keeping things
tight at the back and breaking forward, before the first team increased the
tempo and their running, upping their game, creating chances and finally scoring through Diego
Milito (on 39 minutes) and Esteban Cambiasso. After the break the
Nerazzurri Under-18s – missing 8 players who are in Germany with the Primavera team – tired and the score line began to increase, to the
joy of Inter fans who had crammed in around the ‘Tribunetta’ pitch at the
Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti.

The final result was of
little importance of course, but for the record it finished 8-0, with second-half
goals by Primavera player Samuele Longo (a hat-trick), another for
Milito (making it a brace for him), Walter Samuel and Ricardo
Alvarez. The in-house affair, which Gian Piero Gasperini opened up to the public (42 minutes played in the first half, 35
in the second),
was the first match for the South Americans who recently returned to
Appiano following the Copa America and a late holiday: as well as Milito and Cambiasso, Lucio (first half only) and Maicon (the whole
77 minutes) were in action too. It was also the first game for
Jonathan, who has now recovered from the muscle injury he carried
with him from Brazil. He was tried out mostly on the right of midfield,
with a brief spell on the left at the start of the second half.

Before the practice match
against the Juniores Berretti, the team warmed up with some muscle
exercises in the gym. The training session concluded with some
stretching work.

Raffaele Di Gennaro, Ivan
Ramiro Cordoba, Yuto Nagatomo, Paolo Orlandoni and Emiliano Viviano
all trained separately continuing their individual rehabilitation programmes.
Nelson Rivas was given the day off.

Training will resume in
the afternoon of Monday 15 August, when all the players who were away
with their national sides last week will return, with the exception
of Julio Cesar, who will be back in Milan on Thursday 18 August.
